Kana tried out the Child Development Center after school program yesterday. She was excited to play at first & went right off to play with a new friend she met at a kinder play date. When I picked her up 3 hours later, she was in tears & said " I'm never coming back here. Those people treated me poorly!" Apparently she had fun with her new friend until she lost her new mermaid crayons & she asked the teacher to call me because she was tired & wanted to go home. When they didn't give in to her demands, she lost it. ;0( We're hoping she warms up to it because we won't pay for it if she absolutely hates it. I hyped it up to be a fun after school lunch play date with friends 3x a week. I was just going to leave her there an hour or two to play after school. They're open 6:30am-6pm so we planned to only use the extended hours it as backup when my flts get delayed. We'll see....
Kana was both excited & scared for Transition Kindergarden today (for all the kids turning 5 in Sept-Dec). She met her teacher, Mrs.C, once this summer & loved her right away, so we're hoping it goes well today. She slept in until 7am this morning, but she has a new checkoff chart game to get ready, so that works well. Kana was very sad & clingy at drop off, but luckily no tears. The teacher let the parents do a hand tracing activity with their kid & we wrote what the kid was feeling. Other kids said "cool" & "excited"..... Kana said "sad".
School is 8am-11:20am, so she gets to come home early for lunch on the days that she doesn't go to the CDC after class. It's a rough transition going from the comfort of the co-op preschool with mom's in the classroom everyday to regular school with all new people. I volunteered to help in the classroom once a week though, so she's quite excited about that. She's growing up so fast!!!
