Christmas and New Year's Eve 2011

I had a really good Christmas this year. I didn't get to see Santa come down the chimney with all the presents like I hoped I would but he left some great presents and he ate the cookies I left out for him. The reindeer ate their carrots too! I asked mommy if we could look on the balcony to see if the reindeer left any hoof prints. I loved having Papa and Gramma here for Christmas an mommy flew home just in time for Christmas Eve! I really liked reading with Gramma. Papa took a walk with us when we went out to see Christmas lights one night. I got a cool dollhouse from  Auntie Steff and Uncle Bob that I will eventually grow into. It was a bit overwhelming waiting for daddy to put it together so I could play! I can't even reach the top floor yet. That means I have years to play with it yet. Santa brought me a princess Cinderella and lots of Hello Kitty treats. I got Disneyland Season passes from gramma and papa. On Christmas Eve I was thrilled to open my new favorite dot pants from nana. Thank you to everyone for my presents if I haven't said so already. Did I mention Santa brought lots of chapstick too? Well he brought a few for me and lots for mommy so that means they are for me too, cause I love chapstick just like mommy does. There is a picture of mommy and me trying on chapstick and one where I'm trying to share with Papa.
In case you're wondering why I look so tough... The black eye was from tripping on the step in the garage after I ran to see Nana arrive. It's actually looking pretty good in these pics, you should've seen it when it happened, a week before!

Daddy is on vacation now and mommy is flying a lot so I've had lots of daddy time. We went to Legoland the other day since we had to use the second day of our tickets before the end of the year. It was so much fun. There is a firefighter show that is so cool! I watched it twice and I played in the snow land they had set up again. It's a really cool time.

Daddy and I got all dressed up for New Year's Eve and went to Mama D's for dinner. It's one of my favorites. I wore one of my princess dresses(among other things) and looked really cute. People told me so too. When we got home we had confetti/streamer poppers and I really like those even though they are loud and smelly. I am looking forward to an awesome 2012 after a pretty great 2011. I hope you have a good year too.

LEGOLAND

I took my first trip to Legoland this past Saturday. Even though it's only 90 minutes away it took "Forever" to get there. I made sure to ask regularly if we were ever going to get there. It was a fun day. When daddy  asked what my favorite part was, I said playing in the sand. He wasn't all that excited about that response. He said something like, "Well that's great cause it's not like we don't have sand at the beach at home." I liked all the Lego play areas next to the ride lines so I didn't have to wait and be bored. I really like playing with my own Legos. The snow was really cool too. My hands were freezing. I got to throw snowballs and ride a sled. I can't wait for mommy and daddy to take me to the snow this winter and back to Legoland too. We all got free tickets to go back. I can't wait.
What do you mean they aren't real?

Check me out Mommy.

I'm so funny

One of the mom's at preschool commented that she never sees Kana smile at school. I was curious why.
Sean: "Why don't you smile at school Kana?"
Kana: In a very matter of fact fashion, "It's not my job."

All I could do was laugh.

3 Year Check Up

At 3 years and 2 months old, Kana weighed 38.5 lbs (93%).
She measured 38.5 inches tall (72%).
She's getting a little more selective, but still a really good eater. She's been in great spirits lately. She has some fancy new dance moves that she likes to show off. Her wrist was sprained, but it has healed now so she's a happy camper. She behaved for Nana when mommy was flying for 9 days.
We just got home from a fun trip to Elk Grove for Auntie Steff & Bob's housewarming party. Kana was a perfect flier on this trip! She loves to travel now. She even gets excited to take her shoes off at security. She thinks it's a fun game. I wish we all thought it was that exciting. We all got seats on the plane with no problems. 4 of us got on the direct LAX-SMF flight on Friday morning and Kana was great on the plane! We even had a 2 hour delay and she was fine. She was happy and cooperative on the entire trip! We are so proud of her. On the flight home, we had to take a tiny commuter flight to SFO to connect to a bigger plane in to LAX. We got 3 seats together on both flight. Kana was a perfect angel on both flights. She was so excited to fly with mommy & daddy. She colored and snacked and read stories, chatting the entire time. She was a champ! We told her that since she's such a good traveler now, maybe we'll take her to Hawaii this winter. ;o) Pictures of the trip are coming soon...

Happy Halloween!

So, we spent Halloween afternoon in the ER for a dislocated elbow after taking pictures at school. (Our 4th trip to the ER in her 3 years.) She actually thinks it's fun to see the doctor. We don't.
Kana still says her forearm hurts and thinks she needs the sling, but the doctor said she should be fine. She enjoyed trick or treating, but the long weekend of festivities caught up to her. Level 2 tantrum at bedtime after a long day and too much sugar. We're still working on eliminating those tantrums. They were intense in August and seem to be going away lately, but when we have too much excitement and not enough sleep they make an appearance. She never does well when she doesn't stick to her schedule of required beauty rest. As long as she sticks to her schedule, she is a happy little girl and everyone is impressed with how well she behaves. She can sit and read, color, or play with dolls all day. She's still pretty shy in group settings, but she'll talk your ear off and sing for you once she warms up.
