ER

Kana had her 1st trip to the ER early Sunday morning. We had to go back in to see a Pediatrician today when her fever spiked again. Kana was miserable, screaming and crying all morning and I was fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of her regurgitated breakfast all over my shirt. I am so glad we have a washer and dryer and Kiwi to clean up after her. After a short nap I got a bottle and some Tylenol into her and once she got to Kaiser she was all smiles for the doctor. He said she looked like the Gerber Baby. Kana certainly knows how to behave in public. She got two big shots of medicine to the legs. Test results should be in tomorrow night, so we will find out what she has, but they suspect a kidney infection. She has been throwing up and running a high fever for 3 days now. Poor little baby. She's having a rough time. Her arms are purple and splotchy because the ER nurse couldn't find her vein for the blood tests with all the rolls in the way. Now she has two swollen red legs to go with it. She's really tired of being poked and prodded. Lets hope the antibiotics work and she gets better soon. She has bursts of energy and smiles from time to time, so we hope she is feeling a little better.

I'm 8 months old today! (Can you believe it?!)

My top tooth is just barely poking through. It's making me a little fussy lately and I'm drooling like crazy! I'm really enjoying new finger foods. No crawling yet, but I am determined to steal Kiwi's bone, so that might just be the motivation that gets me moving. The rolling in a circle and screaming is not the most direct route, but I find it the easiest for now. I am also enjoying getting stuck in my crib. Mommy puts me down with plenty fo room above my head and below my feet but I lik to make a 90 degree turn and wedge myself widthwise in the crib.

meltdown at the gym

Well, we knew it would happen sooner or later... Kana had a meltdown in Kids Club at the gym today and I had to end the Pilates class I was teaching early. They came to get me twice and she was covered in tears and snot! Poor little thing! Of course, she would stop and smile as soon as she saw me. I think she was just overtired and wanted her mommy. She usually loves to play and watch other kids. She wouldn't even take the bottle I left for her, so we know something is wrong when she refuses a meal!
We are going to the pediatrician today to ensure that this lingering cold is gone for good and there are no sinus or allergy issues. We'll keep you all posted...

I just can't put her in daycare this young, it's too traumatising for her... and for us. I'm turning down a good job opportunity to stay home with her a little longer, so I guess we'll just have to live on top ramen for awhile. ;o)-

UPDATE: Kana's pediatrician says she is healthy! The cold has run it's course and everything checks out fine. She has been sleeping really well since her stuffy nose cleared up.
Since she is 8 months old in a few days, we'll post her monthly weight a little early..... 22lbs, 4 oz. Only about a 4 oz. gain this month, so that is good, plus she's been getting very tall! Her dr. suggested that she may have melted down at the gym because she wanted to show my pilates class how to do "the hundred". She demonstrated the ab exercise for her as she was trying to pull the glasses off her face. She is a wild one! The receptionist said that Kana looked like she had 2 plums for cheeks, so round and rosy... Oh the funny comments we get each day when we are out on the town.

Another day at the beach

Life has been tough the past few days so I have spent some quality time at the beach. I really needed some decompression time. One day I was hangin' seaside with my boy Logan. He brought his pool so we took a dip and had a picnic. Today Mommy and Daddy took me Rollerblading. I rode in the stroller but it was too windy and I was unhappy. These pics are from a timeout we took so I could have a snack. I certainly wouldn't want to miss a feeding opportunity.

Gordita

I got to see Star Wars for the first time this weekend. Normally I'm not allowed to watch TV cause it will rot your brain. Daddy's brain must be like mush by now. Back to my story, daddy was flipping channels and saw that Spike TV was in the middle of a Star Wars marathon. Luke was chiding Han about being selfish and getting ready to take off in his X-wing. Daddy felt it would be OK for me to watch the last 15 minutes of the original Star Wars. I loved it. Star Wars is fantastic. I can't wait until I have a Star Wars marathon with Daddy. I think Mommy will spend that day shopping. That's a win-win. Since I loved it so much, Mommy got out the Star Wars onesie that Aunt Megan sent for me to wear. We might have to cut the sleeves off next time I wear it. My arms looked like black balloon animals.
I got the title for this post when Mommy took me to Costco today. I was wearing the outfit below and you might be able to tell that I haven't missed many a meal. One of the sample ladies noticed that as well and thinking that Mommy spoke fluent Espanol called me "gordita." How rude! I am at my ideal weight. ;o)-
I am tired of other people feeding me mushy food with that stupid tiny spoon. It has to stop! If you get that spoon within range again I will pry it from your cold, dead hand, if I must. I insist on feeding myself, preferably by the handful. I think I am a lefty, by the way.Who cares if my fine motor skills are woefully lacking and very little food makes it into my mouth? I think I look quite nice with peas smeared all over my body......and Kiwi..... and the wall. Kiwi is quite a fan when I eat banana pieces cause it's one for me, one for him, one for me, one for him and one for the floor.

Happy Easter

Kana met the Easter Bunny at the park and had her 1st Easter Egg hunt today! She didn't care about the eggs and treats, but really enjoyed eating the wood chips by the handful. ;o)-
Happy Easter Everyone!

7 months old

Here is it, we finally got the tooth shot!
