Thanksgiving '09

What a great Thanksgiving. We had Papa, Gramma, Nana and Steph here for the occasion. I went to the park in the morning while everyone was cooking. After the park it was naptime but the cooking food smelled so good I couldn't sleep for long. I thought I might miss out. When dinner was ready I had some of everything and I do mean everything. I was like "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and ate everything I could get my hands on. The turkey was the best and as you can see I had my share and then some. After dinner it was time to head down to the beach. Normally we eat at the beach but since I have a problem with eating sand Mommy and Daddy thought it would be much easier to just go to the beach after we ate. I had a fun time watching the sun set and playing in the sand, collecting rocks and getting Mommy's pants wet in the water. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving too.
Love,
Kana

Here are 2 shots of me the day before Thanksgiving that I didn't want you to miss.

Flu Shots

I saw Dr. Jen today about my lingering cold. My cough won't go away but she says I'm otherwise healthy and full of energy, so I'll be just fine.
They gave me a shot in each chunky thigh. I took it like a champ. I got the 2nd dose of the seasonal flu shot in one leg and the 1st dose of the H1N1 vaccine in the other. They even gave me a lion sticker for my hand! I can growl like a lion quite well. My latest animal noise is an adorable whisper "meow" when I see a kitty.
Daddy teaches me all of the animal sounds when we read books.
I weighed 27 lbs today.
I had a great day with mommy and nana. From my fancy hairdo, I bet you already guessed she was back in town. ;o) I sampled lots of new veggies for dinner. It was great fun. I love all food, I don't turn anything down... but my latest obsession is crunching on snow peas and carrots. Yummy!
Daddy is working late tonight. He is always the one that puts me to bed, so I really miss him. xoxo

Sick

Daddy and I are both sick with a cold. I am going on day #10! It's been rough. To top it off, I got 2 more molars in this week! Mommy doesn't know if I am waking up at 2am because of my cough, my new teeth, separation anxiety or just because I want to party. That was the case last night. I ran around my room looking for toys in the dark. It was great fun!

Here is a picture of me taking charge of my own nap time in the middle of the room and a great shot of my black eye from Halloween. I was on a great sleep schedule before daylight savings messed everything up. I was sleeping 6:45pm-7am and then napping once at 11:30 for 2+ hours. It was great. Mommy could schedule fun play dates with my predictable schedule. Now I am melting down by 6pm, so dinner had better be on the table by 5! I'm getting up around 6am and we are back to 2 naps a day. I like to keep Mommy and Daddy on their toes.

I'll post more for my fans when I am feeling a little better. Hopefully that will be very soon! ;o)

More Trick or Treating

This was my first time Trick or Treating and I loved it. Once again I was adorable in my Dalmatian costume. Kiwi and I matched but I can't say much for the parents costumes. I have to admit I was a bit embarrassed to be seen out in public with them looking the way they did. Maybe next year they will do a bit better. One can only hope.
Mommy looked good in her " just got back from the country club" outfit but Daddy looked like he was straight out of a John Hughes movie and the worst part of it was all of that stuff was in his closet. I will post more photos later but I'm a bit out of whack right now due to the time change.

* By the way, the black eye was not makeup applied to enhance my costume. I fell on a table at Josh & Lydia's house right before trick or treating. It was pretty bad. Mommy still runs into things all the time, so apparently there is no hope for me to grow out of this clumsy stage.

Doggie Halloween

Here are some pictures at the dog park last weekend with Kiwi. Our matching costumes were a big hit! I am getting a lot of use out of this adorable costume. Mommy has me wearing it all month. I have quite the social calendar lately. We went to the Pumpkin Race in Manhattan Beach today and then to the Halloween party at church. Mommy packed broccoli, squash and cucumber for my healthy dinner. Since I was so good, I got a special treat for dessert. I ate a messy orange cookie that I decorated myself, as you can see. It was delicious! Yummy!
I've also learned how to say "Cheese" when I pose for the camera. Enjoy the pictures of me "hamming it up" for my morning photo shoot.

Pumpkins in the Park

Thank you Nana for making me the coolest doggie costume in town... literally and figuratively. The heat wave was brutal for those kids in felt, fleece and plastic.
I really enjoyed the cookie decorating and puppet show at the park.(Especially when the little boy next to me didn't notice that I was trying to steal his hotdog.)

Tomorrow we're going to the Dog Park for another Halloween Party. Kiwi and I have matching outfits, it's going to be great fun!

Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair

The hometown fair was sooo cool!
On Saturday we got to check out all the booths. On Sunday I got to go in the petting zoo twice! The piggie was my favorite. I also got to run around and dance to live music, see the pirate show in the park, visit the doggies at the firehouse, do a little shopping and have a picnic!

A Dog's Life

I have an announcement that will come as a surprise to everyone. I am forgoing life as a human and I have asked mommy and daddy to raise me like a dog. You see the first thing I say when I get up in the morning is oof (that means woof). I want to see Kiwi right away. I follow him around all day, I try to play with all his toys and I grind my teeth so I can make the same noise Kiwi makes when he chews his bone. I love my old teething rings becasue now I can be more like Kiwi. I prefer to drink water out of his bowl instead of my sippy cup. I have already tried a piece of his food and I quite liked it. (It's good, isn't it Aunt Megan?) Daddy wouldn't let me take more from Kiwi's bowl though. I love to watch Kiwi play ball and I am getting much better at playing ball myself so mommy is very hopeful of that.
Kiwi is a great teacher. I think the best thing I've learned from him so far is how to beg. He is a master at the art of begging and I am but a tenderfoot in the game. So far I have learned to beg standing and sitting, in the kitchen and in the family room and of course I can now beg both through sign and voice.
It is definitely a dogs life for me. Now if only I could grow a tail.........
