36 week appt

I had my 36 week appt with the midwife today. There is a new way to estimate the due date based on belly measurements and ultrasounds, so she is adding 4 days to my due date! If the baby is born on Sept 3rd, we will have a crazy Mah-Mcue family birthday week with my mom on the 2nd, Owen on the 4th and Sean on the 5th! She said the baby is still quite skinny even though I gained 3 lbs. The good news is that her head is down so she is in the correct position for delivery. I am still hoping she is ready to come out mid-August.
I have been practicing my prenatal yoga every day and doing low impact workouts on most days. It's helping to control my back pain, maintain my balance and flexibility... and working out is vital for stress relief. I'm not very good at just taking it easy. I am still having some problems sleeping at night. It's just hard to get comfortable. My back tenses up, tummy hurts, baby likes to do the boogie dance in the middle of the night... and my arms are always very chilly, even when it's hot.
Kiwi has been a snugly pup staying by my side day and night. We really hope he can cope with the competition when the baby comes.

We went to our carseat installation appointment with the CHP on Saturday and got some great safety tips and advice for new parents.
We have 2 more weeks of Lamaze class left. I'm scared but anxious for the birth. I have my birth plan ready, bags are packed, carseat installed, baby room set up... so it's just a waiting game now.

Week 34

Well, I got in trouble at my appt this week because I have not gained any weight. I've been stuck at 20 lb weight gain for almost 2 months now. They want you to gain a pound a week in the 3rd trimester for a healthy baby. My tummy has definitely been growing, so I am not sure why it's not showing up as weight gain. I'm trying to eat more, but I'm never hungry, which is really abnormal for me. ;o)- I was a chubby baby and so was Sean, so we are pretty sure she'll be a good eatter though. I haven't had many pregnancy cravings. Lemonade was big the biggest one. Nothing else out of the ordinary, more food aversions than anything. It's hard to eat dinner because I usually feel nauseous in the evenings and I'll be up all night with an upset tummy if I eat a normal dinner. I have a really hard time breathing lately and I get low back tightening that wakes me up at night. Only 6 weeks to go, I just have to hang in there a little longer. I've been healthy otherwise and compared to most people, the pregnancy really hasn't been very rough. It's been a little traumatizing adjusting to all the changes, but I know it could be much worse.
Sean is back from Vegas, so mom & baby are feeling much better now. It was scary being home alone this close to my due date. Kana didn't move much when he was gone and I was getting worried, but as soon as he got home and talked to my tummy, she started kicking up a storm. She must've missed her daddy. She loves to hear his voice. It always makes her active. She also enjoys kicking Kiwi when he tries to lay in my lap. They are going to be best buddies.
Prenatal Yoga has been going well and hanging out with my yoga mom friends is always the highlight of my week. We have been meeting for lunch and shopping regularly. It is so nice to have friends that are going through the same things. We are all a week apart with our pregnancies. There are half baby girls and half baby boys, so we say they are on a date when we sit together at the movies. ;o)
We have completed most of the baby care classes at Kaiser. We have a few more weeks of Lamaze and the carseat check next weekend. Baby can safely arrive any time after August 9th. Sean was hoping for 8.8.08 for chinese good luck, but that would be a day too early for 37 weeks, so we're hoping for maybe 8.18.08 now. We'll see. Kana will come out whenever she's ready.

July is here!

I am sleeping a little better now that the weather has cooled down and we got a new superpower fan. Kiwi has been very protective of mom and baby. He loves attention and is going to be quite a challenge when baby Kana gets here! She has been kicking and punching up a storm the past few weeks. I've been working out and eating healthy most days of my pregnancy. My major craving has been lemonaid. I've gained about 20 lbs so far, hopefully I won't gain much more.
I'm trying to read all the great baby books everyone has given me so we're prepared for the insanity. I am so thankful that my mom will be back down to help out the first couple of months. I couldn't do it without her! I know it will be tough, but I have to find the time to get back into shape. I have a two month goal. I actually look forward to being able to get my heart rate up high and push myself again. These wimpy workouts are for the birds.
I'd like to go back to work part time as well. We will see how it all works out.
My bag is packed for the hospital. We bought a cute yellow organic onesie with hat and booties for the first baby outfit at the hospital (unisex color, just in case). They said to pack snacks for your coach, but Sean doesn't want me packing those yet. He thinks they won't be fresh and tasty if she comes at the end of next month. ;o)-
Happy 4th of July everyone! We plan to go to a party tomorrow, but things aren't so fun this late in the pregnancy. Not a lot of partying going on lately. When you can't really eat or drink and it's hot and uncomfortable to sit or stand, you're not really the life of the party anymore. he! he! Week 33 is starting soon. August is just around the corner!

Our Baby Shower/ BBQ

We had our co-ed baby shower on June 21st, officially the HOTTEST day of the year! The party was fun but we were cooking in the heat. I would have loved a cool ocean breeze. I thought we paid for the weather living here, what happened? he! he! I am thankful for all of our friends that came over to celebrate with us. It was nice to see everyone! Martha and Steve even flew in from across the country, just for the special day! Kana's room is quite full now with all the great gifts. Sean put the new crib together. Mom & Martha put the matching dressing table together. The tan and pink hawaiian theme will look so cute! We ordered the navy BOB jog stroller online and have just a few more key items to purchase and then we are ready! Only 8 weeks to go. Time is flying by. We have a full schedule of lamaze and baby care classes starting this week.

Week 29

We have our 1st Baby Care class tonight! There are many more scheduled in the next few weeks!
The baby room is painted and carpeted. We even put in a new guest bed so visitors can sleep in comfort when they come to see baby KANA! Yes, we picked her name... still deciding on the middle name, but we are pretty much set on the 1st name. It is a Hawaiian/Japanese name that we both love. (ahh, memories of meeting in Saipan 11 years ago.) She is moving forward in my belly more each day. Everyone says that I don't look very big, but she is growing all the time. I'm still enjoying my prenatal yoga classes and outings with my new mom-to-be friends. Sean has been having lots of sympathy pregnancy sweets cravings. Better him than me. he! he! We are getting excited for the baby shower next weekend! Enjoy the new belly pics I posted today.

Test Results!

Yippee! I passed the first glucose test! The liquid taste ok, like orange soda, but I started feeling nauseous after about 30 mins. and I couldn't wait for it to be over! I am so thankful that I don't have to take the second test! That is pretty rare! I have been so nervous. I heard horror stories from friends that threw up the nasty double strength liquid that they make you drink after fasting and then you have to sit and get blood drawn every hour for 3 hours! I had the tests done this morning, before my appointment and my results were back in a few hours. My nurse midwife is a doll. She said my iron levels and glucose levels were fine. Yeah! I asked her to make sure the baby is normal size because everyone tells me that I don't even look pregnant. I gained 19 lbs already, I certainly didn't look like this before, so I don't know why people say they can't tell! I guess I am just tall so it doesn't show as much. It turns out that the baby is perfect size and I am right on target to gain the recommended healthy amount of weight, so she told me not to worry. The third trimester is here, so we are in the home stretch! Baby MahMcCue will make her appearance at the end of summer! Can you believe it?
I've been feeling ok except for the itchy skin, sinus problems, moodiness & occasional stress headaches. I am ready for it to be over though. I really want to go shopping for cute normal clothes! I miss shopping in Europe on layovers! I guess those days are over, I'll be shopping for baby from now on. ;o)-

Sunday's Rant

Hi again. Sorry I haven't written in a while but I've been busy growing. That's my job you know. One of my favorite things to do is kick Daddy in the head. Mommy has him try to listen to my heartbeat by putting his head on her stomach and that's when I get him. I like to kick him in the ear. Daddy doesn't think it's very funny but Mommy thinks it is hilarious. Of course that's cause I've been kicking mommy so hard that she thinks there is a gang fight going on inside of her. I'm not trying to hurt her. It's just that I'm trying out these appendages I have and they get bigger every day. Besides its not like I have any fine motor control. Heck, I don't have any motor control.
They say I'm a little over 2 pounds right now and mommy's belly just isn't big enough for me.I'm working on trying to make mommy look pregnant. I'm really trying to stretch out so I have more room in here.
Mommy and Daddy took me to IKEA today to look for a crib for me but I didn't like any of them. It's not that I'm picky, I just have refined tastes. Just kidding I don't have any taste. I get all my food through a cord and I'm swimming in my own filth. That's not a great pedestal from which to judge.
Well, I have approximately 13 weeks until I make my appearance in this world. See you later. -Baby without a name (mommy and daddy need to figure this out. I want a name!)

Memorial Day Weekend

Well, the 3rd trimester is about to start and Baby MahMcCue is growing like a weed! She had some strong kicks at Fiesta Hermosa today. Sean says that she was practicing her Mui Thai for the UFC fights tonight. We bought her the cute duck hood towel from our favorite booth. Kiwi had a great time getting lots of attention from the crowd and he really enjoyed the dog booth with free treats. The weather was cooler & overcast, my favorite! It's not fun being preggo in the heat. My stomach definitely changes size throughout the day. Everyone at SCE thought I was faking the pregnancy yesterday and today the baby is sticking herself way out there for all to see. I posted a 7 month belly picture so everyone can see how puffy she is today. Most of the time I look almost normal from the front, but when I turn to the side at the gym and see myself in the mirror, ahhhh... it is very obvious. I have gained about 15 lbs. so far. My next appt is June 2nd, so we'll see how she is progressing. I am not looking forward to the nasty glucose test. Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all! Our Baby Shower/BBQ is June 21st! Wow, time is flying by!

Saturday in the Womb

This baby thing is pretty cool. I like to kick mom in the belly. It's fun and a great way to pass the time. See, there isn't much for me to do inside mom. No books to read, no TV to watch, no PSP, email or cell phone. So I just kick and dance, dance and kick. I also like somersaults and naps. I really can't complain...........but I will. Yesterday, while mommy and daddy were having a yard sale, Kiwi kept trying to sit on mommy's lap. Normally this isn't a big deal cause Kiwi is nice and warm and he keeps me nice and cozy but the chair mommy was sitting in was built for one (or one and a half in my case). Every time he tried to climb up he would kick me. I think I might have a paw print embedded on my forehead. It's not funny. Really, it's not funny. Stop laughing. This is the kind of thing I will be telling my therapist in 30 years.
Other than the paw print on my head the yard sale was fun. We hung out in the front yard and talked to all the neighbors. We didn't sell very much ( daddy had to put the big stuff on Craigslist after it was over) but mommy got a new Mary Kay customer.
I hope mommy and my grandma and nana have a great mother's day.
BabyMahMcCue out!

My first post

Hi everybody. This is my first post to this blog see cause I'm the one this blog is all about. Mommy and Daddy can't decide on what they want to call me so I'm stuck with BabyMahMcCue. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining. It's not like I need a name right now since I'm just hanging out in mom's belly. I was really active during the last ultrasound and now mommy is starting to feel my kicks. I'm a good little girl cause I'm already doing what my daddy tells me. Every night he tells me to grow big and healthy and strong, so I am.
Mom thinks she is big as a house but most people don't even think she is pregnant. At least that is what all the women at mom's surprise baby shower said. My Auntie Stephanie planned the whole thing and my "NanaMah: knew all about it and she didn't spill the beans to mommy. Daddy didn't have a clue either. Mommy called to ask him if he knew about the "surprise" and he was just as surprised. I got some really pretty clothes & blankets. All of mommy's friends have little boys so they were excited to buy little girls clothes.
Well that's it for now. It's past my bedtime. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone when I show my face at the end of August.
